LATE DR. GAMALIEL O. ONOSODE, OFR

Founding President (1981-2001)

Dr. Gamaliel Oforitsenere Onosode is the founding President of the Association of Pension Fund and Investment Managers (now Association of Investment Advisers and Portfolio Managers). He is an alumnus of University College Ibadan (now University of Ibadan) where he graduated with a B.A (Hons) Classics having won many departmental and faculty prizes.

His professional and working career span both the private and public sectors. He was at various times, with Commonwealth Development Corporation as management trainee and executive assistant to the Regional Controller, Asst. General Manager Nigeria Housing Development Society Ltd., (now Federal Mortgage Bank) Asst. General Manager NIDB, Chairman and Chief Executive NAL Merchant Bank Plc. He has been and is still both a Chairman and a director of many business enterprises and philanthropic organizations. He is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers, and formerly, Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of governing Council, University of Uyo and the University of Lagos. He is an ordained Baptist Deacon and he is married with children. He was also awarded Honorary Doctor of Science by the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife and the University of Benin. He is a fellow of APFN.

CHIEF AJIBOLA OGUNSHOLA

Second President (2001-2003)

Chief Ogunshola was the second past President of Association of Pension Funds of Nigeria. It was during his tenor the Association name was changed from the Association of Pension Fund and Investment Managers to Association of Pension Funds of Nigeria. He attended Government College, Ibadan and later graduated in Mathematics from the University of Ibadan in 1967. Between 1974 and 1985 he served as the Managing Director/CEO of Niger Insurance Plc from where he went on to set up the renowned Ajibola Ogunshola & Co., then a leading Actuarial Consulting firm. He is a fellow of Institute of Actuaries of England, and Honourary fellow of Nigerian Institute of Public Relations. He was appointed Chairman Presidential Committee on Civil Service Pension Review in 1988 and also Chairman, Committee of Actuaries of the United Nations Pension Fund. He also served as the Chairman, Committee on the Harmonization of the Private and Public Sector Retirement/Pension Schemes for Greater Efficiency. He was the Chairman of the Punch Newspapers and currently Chairman of Alexander Forbes Consulting Actuaries Nigeria Limited. He is a fellow of APFN

MR. FELIX NEEQUAYE AKPE (LATE)

Third President (2003-2009)

Late Mr. Akpe was a leader of all times. The Vital bridge between the past and present and embodiment of tenacity. He was the immediate past President of the Association. He was the Chairman of First Finance and Trust Limited, First Stockbrokers Limited, First Pension Consultants Limited, and Chief Executive of Institute of Financial Planning. Also he was the Chairman of Kamaly Farms Limited, National Chairman of Spinal Cord Injuries Association of Nigeria (SCIAN), President of Nigerian Integrated Rural Accelerated Development Organisation (NIRADO), Board Member of Cultural Affairs International, Brussels-Belgium. He was a fellow of APFN

DR. OLUFEMI OYETUNJI

Fourth President (2009-2015)

Dr. Olufemi Oyetunji is the Managing Director of Alexander Forbes Consulting Actuaries Nigeria Ltd. He obtained a First Class Honours degree from University of Manchester in 1976 and a Masters from Imperial College London and Ph.D (University of Manchester, London). He is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries a title he obtained in 1992 after spending some years with Bacon and Woodrow, Epsom England (the largest actuarial consulting firms in Europe at that time). On his return to Nigeria in 1992, he joined Aiico Insurance Plc. where he rose to the position of General Manager before moving to Crusader Insurance Plc as the Managing Director in 1998. Thereafter he joined Alexander Forbes Consulting Actuaries Nigeria Limited as their first Managing director in Nigeria. Dr Oyetunji is the current Managing Director of Continental Reinsurance Plc. MRS OLUWATOYIN FOLASADE SANNI, FCIS

Fifth President (2015-2018)

Mrs Sanni is the President of the Association of Investment and Portfolio Managers and the Group CEO of United Capital Plc. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Law, LLB from the University of Ife, Masters in Law, LLM from the University of Lagos and is a Fellow of the Association. Her previous roles include, MD, UBA Trustees, CEO, UBA Global Investor Services, MD, Cornerstone Trustees Ltd and AGM, First Trustees Nigeria Limited. She is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers and Associate of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators, Nigeria. She has served severally as President of the Association of Corporate Trustees, Council Member, Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators, Nigeria, Member, National Bond Steering Committee, Member, West African Capital Market Integration Technical Committee and Chairperson of the Custody Sub-Committee of the Capital Market Committee. She also served as Chairman of the Annual Capital Market Retreat Committee for 2012 to 2014. She sits on several Boards and is a frequent Speaker at local and international conferences. She is the author of the Inspirational Book “Yes You Too Can”.
